#AttitudeOfGratitude: August 9, 2018

I’m thankful for breakfast.

Grilled cheese and eggs, nice. Then it gets weird – with longganisa. Haha! It’s great though; they make for a good side-dish to go with the sweetness of the sandwich (I eat my grilled cheeses with maple syrup, that’s why.)

I’m thankful for lunch.

Cajun chicken with cucumbers, scrambled eggs and rice. Nice.

I’m thankful I had a productive day.

I ended up having a more jam-packed day than I thought I would when the estimates for the project assigned to me arrived. I had to get to work on the timeline projections (which I’m doing for the first time – I hope I don’t mess this up) and the scope and limitations documentation, and that was immediately followed by an update that our internal portfolio projects could finally resume work. I was also in a long meeting by the end of the day, so there was no stopping for us. Still, I feel like I was able to make good use of my time, and I’m hoping that’s a good investment to end the week right.

I’m thankful I made a good joke?

During out ESGS volunteers meeting, somebody remarked that they wanted to “add something” to the conversation, which meant additional reminders on our goals and guidelines for the event. I decided to come up next and say I wanted to add something too, except I said…

1 + 1 = 2.

Yep, I did that. It got a few laughs, but later in the evening someone sent me a message to say that the joke stuck with them and that it was really good! I also learned that said person’s perception of me changed – turns out I was always seen as a constantly-serious guy, but now I come across as more easygoing and fun which is great! To be honest, I’m just versed in sarcasm, but if that’ll help me make friends without hurting anyone, I’ll take it.

I’m thankful for dinner and new friends!

We had a send-off dinner for Jammy tonight at Brad & Pit’s, a place she recommended for awesome ribs. Jikoy, Ivan, Japam and I shared a plate of fries and a platter with ribs, spaghetti and wings – Jammy was not kidding about how good the food is! The servings were generous too. The fries were a highlight for me – they used a bit of steak sauce, and it looks like they torched the final plating a little bit, giving it that amazing smoky taste.

We ended up ordering another plate of just ribs, and for the price we each got two pieces – the dry rub and their sweet sauce is highly recommended.

We spent the night talking and stuff, and I think I made new friends in Derick, Ivy and Reinan a bit. I didn’t talk to them much, but hopefully that shared experience is a good starting point.

Shout out to Jammy and Derick – congratulations and best of luck on your new career moves, always stay safe and work hard! We’ll be supporting you all the way.

I’m thankful I got home safe.

Us four guys shared a Grab back to Megamall, where I proceeded to ride the bus home with Jikoy. Thankfully there wasn’t a lot of traffic, even at my second stop, so I was home by 1 despite leaving later than I normally would’ve needed to make it home at that time. Awesome!
